News: Options for universal child support

rodzina CenEA’s Commentary published today (26.03.2014) presents analysis of potential options for introduction of a universal child benefit in Poland.

CenEA’s Commentary presents consequences of two potential options of introducing universal child support in Poland. A system based on the current values of means-tested family benefits, which consolidates family benefits, child birth allowance and income tax advantages related to having children would cost the budget approximately 1,4bn PLN per year. A universal system that ensures budget neutrality with respect to the current level of support for children would require lowering the values of the universal benefit by approximately 10% relative to the current levels of support extended through family benefits.
