CenEA’s Commentary presents consequences of introduction of the refundable child tax credit proposed by the Polish government on September 5th. According to our analysis such a change in the tax system will overall cost the budget about 1,5
bn PLN annually. Over 1,5 mn families with children will gain, mainly with low incomes. However, when taking into account the construction of family allowance with point withdrawal of all benefits if net income of a family exceeds a certain level, governmental reform will result in about 67 thousand of families having lower disposable incomes than in current system.
